Caitlin Mitchell

Caitlin Mitchell joined AKPD Message and Media in 2009 as Staff Assistant. She currently serves as a Research Assistant, conducting research for international and domestic clients.
Prior to joining AKPD, Caitlin worked in the new media department of Obama for America. In that capacity, she worked on developing and managing online communities for the campaign. She conducted extensive external organizing through social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. Caitlin also managed communication on the campaign’s internal social network, my.BarackObama.com, which is credited with catalyzing the campaign’s record-breaking number of donations, volunteers, groups, events and phonebanks.
Before her campaign work, Caitlin developed her new media skills while interning at Progressive Strategies, a D.C. based political consulting firm. While there, she conducted in-depth research, outreach and coverage of the political blogosphere. She also assisted in developing new media projects and the launch of the top-tier progressive blog, OpenLeft.com.
Caitlin is a graduate of Ohio University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, a minor in French and a certificate with the Global Leadership Center.
