Luz Agudelo

Luz Agudelo joined AKPD on a part-time basis to facilitate the production of campaign ads during the historic 2008 Presidential election before joining AKPD’s production team full-time in the fall of 2009. Presently she works closely with the Producer on the production and release of television, radio, and web commercials.
Drawing on her impoverished, immigrant past, Luz envisions the use of media as a vehicle for social change. In 2005 she returned to her native Colombia to direct Projecto Simon, a documentary depicting a daycare’s struggle to care for the children of prostitutes in the city of Chinchina.
Luz also worked as an Associate Producer for SEE 3 Communications, a production company whose mission is to help nonprofits spread their advocacy through multimedia. In addition to her work in issue oriented media, Luz has lent her expertise to a number of independent media artists and produced multiple narrative, short films that have won awards and screened worldwide.
Above all else, Luz is an impassioned champion for the underprivileged and underrepresented, and has focused on working with projects that initiate a call to action.
Luz received her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago.
